Help w/ Strattera | ADHD Information

Share

I'm new to this forum, I have a 12 year old son who was diagnosed w/ ADHD 5 years ago. He has been on Concerta continuosly until this summer. At his doctors suggestion I gave him a break from his meds over the summer. Upon starting basck to school I found it necessary to put him back on medication. His doctor suggested trying Strattera. He has been on it for a week now, and it has been an absolute nightmare. I started giving it to him in the evenings, and that was okay, but when it came time to give the next dose the following day, he was an absolute terror. He was never this bad even before medication. Then I tried giving it to him in the morning, and he fell asleep an hour later, and then this evening again was horrible. I will talk to his doctor tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestions. If I have to put him back on Concerta, I will but I'd like to explore other options first.

Thanks

Maybe your Dr. has him on too high of a dosage.  My child went from 25mg to 18mg.  She isn't as sleepy now. Thanks Dale, I discussed this with his doctor today. I explained everything that happened, and the doctor agreed to try putting him back on Concerta. I will keep the board posted...................
