We use the almond milk and my sons love it! The chocolate almond is sweetened with cane extract or cane juice and it gives them all that calming magnesium.
Then your child isn't sensitive to milk. Plain and simple. Lucky! :)Cow's milk is just gross for humans, anyway, in my opinion. It can be difficult on our human systems because.....it's made for
calves.
We are the ONLY species to consume another species milk, and at the same time are often reluctant to give our own. We are really wierd.

Oh my, have I said this line once too many times!!
I also heard that once a person has reached adulthood, milk consumption should be elliminated. That's why many adults develop an intolerance to milk later in life. This of course, I've heard through the grapevine. I'm not sure how accurate it is.. my sister told me! LOL
lol![QUOTE=MegMaguire]I agree that Rice Milk is a good option, however it's nutritionally lacking -- there's not much in there except just a substitute. The almond milk provides the calcium (that you miss out on) as well as providing magnesium..... in fact, where we live they are selling it in "regular" grocery stores. Just "food" for thought -- pun intended!

I honestly thought calcium was added. I actually had to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
It is made by Blue Diamond and is called almond breeeze. It comes in flavored chocolate and vanilla and original. There is even an unsweetened in the two flavors and you can get it by the case from the Blue Diamond web site. The sweetened flavors are sweetened with cane extract and not processed sugar. Wornout, they sell almond milk at our local grocery store that is "regular" however you can also get it at natural foods stores such as Whole Foods. We use the Blue Diamond brand.... in our regular grocery it is kept in the same place as the rice milk.first let me say that i am sorry for using all caps. i ddin't know it was yelling on the internet. but i think from reading all of tihs that we shoud try the almond milk, because it's containing magnesium. now is this almond milk sold in regular stores and what brands are there.? i don't think i've ever seen it.The best alternative to cow's milk is rice milk: Rice Dream .. recommended by doctors. It doesn't contain any protein so you'll have to increase your daily intake of that to compensate. Don't buy the flavoured kind. Original is best.i switched but didnt notice a difference. We eliminated most dairy from our diets too, and drink the Rice Dream rice milk. They also make ice cream! It's orgnic rice, and we cook with it, use it in cereal, etc. DS has been off of milk since he started drinking it at 13 months or so, when he started in on the allergy to it. We can both have occasional cheese, but no cow milk. I've been healthier overall, I don't get bronchitis or sinusitis anymore like I used to.
INABOX, you back??? Howdydo??
Candyhound, the best way of testing whether or not one is sensitive to a food item is by going through a process of ellimination. Since we're talking milk:
1. Elliminate milk completely for 2-3 weeks.
2. After this period of time, re-introduce the milk back into the diet and in large quantities. Impound the kid with milk!! LOL
3. Look for these symptoms: redness of the ears; blotchiness of the skin (face); flared tempers.. within the first 4 days after the re-introduction.
If you don't see any of these symptoms then it's safe to assume your child is not sensitive to cow's milk. If you don't go through this process, you're basically guessing and that's not a good idea either.
Calicorose, lol ya I'm back. I just needed a break from ADHD talk. :D
