When to stop naps? | ADHD Information

OK, so DS just turned 7 and is on Strattera (though we are going to trial Ritalin XR starting this weekend) and is still needing a nap in the afternoon.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  He is getting like 11 hours of sleep at night, 7:30p-6:30a, and of course they stopped naps in Kindergarten, though they could have about 15 min of quiet time in 1st.  Lord knows I need a nap, but should he keep taking one on the weekends since he can't have one at school?  Thanks!

is he ADD?

I am ADD and i needed naps and i am 33!!!!.once i started concerta i did not need them anymore.

my son is ADHD and does not sleep at night never mind during the day.

it does not stop him sleeping at night so  i don't see the harm on letting him have his nap.he probably would be really grumpy if you stopped him.on the other hand you could try energetic activities when it is time to nap.

As long as the nap isn't interfering with his sleep at night, let him nap.  Maybe he is having a growth spurt?  I personally don't know any kids that age that take naps(my daughters are 6 and 7), but maybe his body needs it for some reason.Let him nap until he doesn't want to anymore, or he stops sleeping 10-11 hrs per night. Heck, I'd love to take a nap daily!
