Daytrana Question | ADHD Information
Bradsmom,
My 6 (almost 7) DS just started on the patch on Thursday. He has been sensitive to the feeling of the patch being on his hip. He has only complained a few times - I think it feels similar to a little bit of tape on your skin. Maybe ask for a placebo patch to do a test run so that you can see how he reacts to it. My ped. actually wore a placebo all day on her hand to see what it felt like. It might be something the doctor could get from the drug rep.
hey guy's thanks so much for your help. I took my son to the Dr yesterday morning (Friday) and they checked his blood count and said that was fine, but he had never heard of this patch and would like to read some info on it before writing out a script. So he get's on his computer to check it out and there's no info on it. He comes back to me and say's "WELL, WE DON'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS PATCH ON OUT COMPUTER. THERE PACKAGE INSERT ISN'T EVEN ON THERE." so he called the Pharmaist at the hospital which is in the same parking lot and asked him too look it up on the HOspital PC and if he find's it to print him the information and bring over. SO when he get's the information all it was was the same stuff I had read on the internet and everything was the same that I had done told him lol. He said from what he read on there it sounded like it was a good medicine and was really worth a try. So he gladly wrote out the script for me and now I jsut have to wait til Monday to get it b/c the pharmacy has to order it. So I'm keeping my finger's crossed that this is what will help my son.
[QUOTE=ChrisDay28] Hi BradsMom,
There's a great thread regarding the Daytrana patch. It has about 7 pages of
interesting information from some of us parents who have been using it. I
don't recall seeing anything about Autistic children using it, but there's lots
of stuff about how long it lasts, side effects, etc. You might get some useful
information...way too much for me to retype here!
It's the one that says "Daytrana anyone". Good luck to you!

yeah, but it's off topic and full of crap by the 3rd page
Daytrana is just a stimulant that you use in a patch. If you mean sticking the patch on him before he wakes up, I'm sure he'll jump out of bed because he might feel a jolt of energy from the stimulant drug.
Strattera never worked for me, and I hated the feeling of fatigue I got from it, so I don't blame you guys for wanting another medication because I know that strattera didn't help me any.

I agree with ChrisDay28... The Daytrana Path thread is chocked full of facts as well as concerns, general questions, and personal experiences from THE people that are currently trying the patch as a method for ADHD. Some may call it "crap" but for the ones actually interested and concerned, the thread can be helpful. ptgally38954.5589930556Well wait a second. Wasn't that the thread 11 pages long and the one me and candy chose to chat in? I honestly thought it was just off topic posts but I guess I was thinking of another one if you say its got everything in it

well with the actual thread names .. I think we both might have been wrong.

I was referring to (and miss said earlier) the Daytrana Anyone??? thread. Its 7 or so pages. I think your referring to the trilithium thread 11 pgs? LOL We're gonna have this poor person not knowing where to go from our mistakes. hehe sorry Bradsmom.

gotta jet... Euphoria ~ Are you talking about the trilithium thread? The Daytrana one we
are talking about is "Daytrana Anyone"...and I don't think it's full of crap. I'm
not sure there are any off-topic posts in there.Yep. Thats the one. Sorry.Hi Everyone. My name is Amanda and my 6 year old son Brad is ADHD. He has been prescribed Strattera 25mg but cannot swallow the capsules. My sis in law told me about Daytrana and I have been doing some research on it and in the morning I have to have my son at the Dr's office to have him put on something else. I would really like to try this patch out but I do have some questions about it. My son is also Autistic, and if he notices anything out of place or un-usual he will go nuts about it til it's fixed. Not sure if anyone on here has any experience with Autistic kids, if you then you know what I mean. Anyways what I was wondering is if this patch can put put on in the morning's about 5-10 min's before I wake my son up? Would be be able to feel it on him once he wakes up and/or if he don't see me put it on him? Where can or is the patch to be put on at? If possible I would like to but it maybe on the back of his shoulder or possible the back part of the hip where he can't see it at school and pull it off. What are some serious side effects you have seen with this? And about the sleep deal. I'm not sure that will be a problem as he plays really hard at school and is usually out by 8:30-9:00 at night and sleep's all night long til 7 am the next morning. How long after you take the patch off can you tell a difference in the way the child act's? Sorry for all of these question's,it's just that the decision to take him to the Dr at 6:45 am tomorrow was an all of a sudden thing and I would really like to get as much information from people who actually have experience with this med. Thank's so much for any information that anyone can possibly give to me on such short notice. You honstely don't know how much I appreciate it :)
