Neurontin | ADHD Information

Oh I see. Well if he starts having auditory or visual hallucinations or delusions then he REALLY does need sleep. I've done that before, and I went into a panic episode and starting screaming and crying because a voice told me I was going to die.He is only 11 so that would not be a good thing for him. He has never required much sleep, but I fear his lack of sleep will effect his school.

Some times clonidine is given instead of tenex. It is also a blood pressure med like the tenex but is more sedating.

The only experience I have with Neurontin is taking it myself for about three months. It wasn't specifically for sleep but did help me with that. I actually had a minor spinal cord injury (oxymoron if there ever was one) and intermittently lost feeling and sensation in my right arm. The Neurontin helped with the pain in the times in between numb and normal feeling which was most of the time. I took it at night and it did make me sleepy.

It seems to have completely different effects from person to person, so trial and error is really the only way to determine if it will help your son.

Good luck and best wishes for your son. Sounds like he has a good mom!
Well, I am back asking for advice. As I last posted, my son was put on Tenex, he has been taking 2 mgs. at night and still not sleeping. He has been staying up until after midnight on school nights. A friend who I work with has a son with similiar problems as my son and she had been taking her child to a pediatric neurologist so she recommended him. Well, I took my son today. The doctor was very abrupt and gruff and my son "hated him", but that's not the point. He said that my son's silly and bad behavior was because he is "rebounding" from the Ritalin. I think I remember someone mentiont a rebound effect in my last post. He decreased the 40mg LA Ritalin to 30LA and took him completely off the 15mg at 4:00. I called the doctor who prescribed the tenex and she decreased the tenex to .1 mg at night. So now he is on 30mg Ritaling LA, 50mg Zoloft in the morning and and night 1 mg of tenex and will start the neurontin tonight. Does anyone of this board's children take neourontin for sleep, if so does it work. You all really made me feel better with your responses after my first post and I appreciate that. <!-- Message ''"" -->
How old is your son? I'm very used to the insomnia. I sometimes stay up for several days without any sleep, and am able to handle it ok. But that's probably not a good idea.
