College is something I'd definitely like to go back to and finish some day but for myself I know that I can not take a full load on or I will surely get overwhelmed and fail.  Is it possible to take a lighter load?  It may take longer to finish, but for myself, I'd rather do it in small chunks and do well, then get overwhelmed and end up quitting again.   It's important to get a little free time so you don't feel too overwhelmed.  Maybe once you get used to your schedule and you get a routine it will get a little easier.   Hang in there.  Dee yeah. hopefully i'll edventually get some free time durring thhe week.Glad to hear your doing ok in college so far - you will figure out the groove to fit in with the shcedule thing.  It takes awhile to adjust to any new change!!!  i didnt talk directly to her but i did to a few other profs.cool! lol. purdue always beats us at basketball. Anyway i got a note
from my psyc saying that i need extentions.Hope it continues to go well for you, Candy!  Keep us posted!Well I started college this week and so far so good. I just really don't like the
work load. I don't have any free time anymore.Good to hear that things are going well so far. Did you approach your calc prof about your AD/HD? It may help her understand why you were acting the way that you were. An apology may also be slightly redemptive. Its going pretty well. I'm adveraging all A's. Just my calculus teacher hates
me. I guess she notices me because its such a small class. She kicked me
out of the class one day for being disruptive. But other then that its
going pretty well.I still have a 90% at a minimunm in her class though. I think that it might be
a 96% but that is my lowest grade.

well hey now.. I wouldn't be looking at that as an excuse now candy....Every Semester/Quarter is different. There has been times where I have taken 13 credits and have had 5 hours of home work every night and most of the weekend. Then there have been courses where I have taken 22 credits and had more spare time then I knew what to do with. Its totally up to you obviously but you gotta remember that you will have some bad semesters and you will have good/easy ones. To me it looks like you are doing excellent and have nothing to worry about..your what an A or maybe an A- average!! that is awesome!! You need to do good in college but you need to have a life. you only live it once!! go make the best of it because you will never be young again!!

Did I miss something? All of a sudden people are talking about college being overwhelming, etc. I didn't see candy post on that. Stangcotic is right in that every semester varies, although, I've managed to have plenty of free time and still get a 4.0 for 6 semesters. My ADD Daughter just started college and I am worried about her.  How do you get extensions on your homework?  She doesn't like to face her ADD issues, It is hard to even get her to take her meds.  You would propbably make great friends! She is at Purdue by the way.

candyhound - I know that the workload is often overwhelming.  I remember my adventure in university.  All day in computer labs - followed by my cooperative job for the parks system for 4 hours and finally night classes for typing and other various items that the day didn't have the hours for.  I hardly saw more than my classmates and if I was lucky bed.

It lasts 4 to 8 years tops.  Then you are free!  But with your GPA I doubt you need to wait that long for free time.  Why not be happy with 85 to 90 percent and actually cut homework from time to time to actually have a life!

University was one of the happiest memories I have.  I cannot imagine a time where I felt more in place and comfortable.  People actually want to be there - and it was a far better place in my books than high school ever was.

I may actually go back some time... better be soon or I'll be too old and cranky to enjoy it LOL.

i do cut homework sometimes. but i get a 3 day extention on every
assignment.I certainly do hope that you apologized to the prof. Considering she had to kick you out of class, I think it would be appropriate, regardless of the grade you have.
