Any luck or results with EEG Feedback? | ADHD Information

WE  will probably be starting in a few weeks. Right now he is having training with interactive metronome which is supposed to decrease impulse control, improve concentration, focus, timing, reading and math fluency. It is used by professional atheletes in NBA and NFL so I thought I would give it a try. The IM training usually only involves 12-15 sessions and we are on about 5 or 6 now. When we finish he will begin the EEG which could take awhile. I am willing to try anything as the meds and therapy just dont do enough to help him..plus my insurance pays for the EEG.. WE are also trying some new "behavior modification" techniques at home ( 1 Direct TV  box , a TV and DVD player have been confiscated and now there is only 1 TV in the house and it has parental controls on it) If they dont help with chores, keep their rooms clean, clean up behind themselves and have a more cooperative attitude more "toys" will be removed like the cell phones the remaining TV, etc.

Husband left 2 weeks ago and they have gotten a little carried away now that the tyrant is gone :)  And of course they are testing me...so I have showed them that they do have a lot to lose by not working together and being defiant and oppositional.

It has not been easy to do but with me trying to run the house alone now I need their help and cooperation. If they refuse then I refuse to pay for their "toys"  . I think they are starting to get it finally after a week of deprivation...today was a relatively good day, son did his chores, cleaned his room, daughter cleaned the kitchen,...not bad  but they have to keep it up...

I will keep everyone posted.

I like the following website. It has a lot of very useful brain information! http://amenclinic.com/

Hope this helps!

We just started Neurofeedback today, on my son who is 10.  I'm told it could take 20-40 sessions before we know how successful it will be.  If you want to check back with me later, I'd be happy to share our experience with you.

Hi Parents,

I recently started thinking about the EEG Neuro Feedback Treatment as an option for trying to help sons ADHD. Has anyone tried it or know anyone whos had any luck with that? Good or bad I guess, any experience? I found one posting with some links and checked them out but I'd love to hear from someone whos tried it! Thanks!

I had a friend try that and it didnt seem to help him much. sorry. There's a thread on this on the Alternative and Complimentary Meds section of this board.......
