Hello
My 12 yr old ADHD child was a bed wetter up untill about half way into this past summer when he did not take a daily dose of concerta. He was dry the entire time! We decided to try the new school year without meds just to see how he would do. He is doing ok as far as behavior THANK GOD but he is zoning out in class. SO yesterday morning we gave him a pill and this morning...he woke up soaked. I think I would rather have my child wake up dry and have a good self-esteem as long as his behavior is not disruptive. My question to all out there: Is there a connection with concerta and bedwetting? I havent found anything on the net and I know his drug therapist would poopoo the idea of a connection.
Thank you all!
I've never heard of anyone having that connection. However, when i take
I have read on the web (look up ADHD and bedwetting) that bedwetting after age 5 tends to imply a child has ADD.
In my 10 y.o. daughter's case, she often wakes up wet following days where she didn't have meds. She never wakes up wet if she took meds (usually Concerta) the day before.
Without medicine, she sleeps very deeply, and she sometimes forgets to pee before bed...
Good Luck
Bed wetting is annoying to kids. and embaressing.I thank you for this thread. I have a 16 yo who has been on concerta for a few years and periodically he urinates in bottles or cups in his bedroom. I have been yelling at him about it whenever it happens and I thought it was just laziness but based on the things I have read here I think it might be some side-effect of the meds (combined with his laziness to get up in the middle of the night). But maybe the concerta does increase urine flow...gives me something to think about...maybe I wont yell next time.
