The University Study to begin | ADHD Information

Share

I met with the psychiatrist and psychologist that will be following my daugher  and found out she is in the behavior modification group no meds.  The psychologist explained it all to my girl and asked her how she felt about it and explained her ADHD to her and shared with her she can not only help herself but other kids like her.  My daughter signed her own consent form it was cute and even asked an important question that floored the psychologist and darnet I cannot remember what it was.

I start parenting classes next week for support and to help us with the behavior mod program for school (where the main focus is).  It is supposed to also teach us skills to help us and while we are attending parenting classes my girl will be in socialization group learning.  This will be on tuesdays and if she needs more saturdays wil be added.  Today we came up with her plan and I saw a blank daily note to be filled out next week once they meet with the teacher to know target areas.  I do have a blank one around if anyone wishes me to post and then I can add the list of privalges and rewards they can earn but each child is different.  I got it when I went for that all day training a few months back I was told one was in the book I got.

I am excited about the program and what we will be getting out of it and if the behavior mod needs more they can add low meds at a later date, the idea is little or no meds.  Next week the school will have visitors the team who will meet with the principal and teacher and tell them what is going to occur and why and I will get daily notes.  I am planning next IEP to add daily communication so when the study ends it will be there.  I will keep all posted especially when i learn a trick or two.  Jill

This is very exciting, to finally be getting started!  This sounds like a wonderful program.  It was cute that they had your daughter sign her own papers. Gave her ownership of the program didn't it?  Rather than just be there because mom made her.  It sounds like you will be receiving a lot of useful tools for your family.  This sounds like such a wonderful thing for your family.

I did find the daily reports the blank one with ideas to use also the list of possible rewards to earn it is all positive based no negative.  My husband can scan them into the computer only if others are interested and the school part can be worked out on the teachers feedback on areas that need help.

Here is the website to download a home based daily report and lists attached to set it up in the home as well.  Warning it is 23 pages long to download and print.  When you pull up the website and enter click on the download  middle of the screen and it will come up and print.  i am going to read it later.
Jilette, that is such a great oppurtunity for your family! I wish we could find something like this for my son.  Thank you for sharing the website. I was looking for weeks for  a lot of this information and have printed the daily reports. I plan to share  this with my son's teacher when he starts 1st grade next week.
*There is a separate daily note for school unless you were able to get it off the website, the website one was one for home.  I will have my husband scan the school one on the computer so you can print it.

Jillette,

I am so happy for you and your little one!  From your earlier posts I could tell how excited you were for her to be in this study.  Make sure you share some tips when you learn them.  I'm sure we could all benefit from them.  Good Luck!

Hello, thank you for this information that you've shared on this website.  I've looked up the website and found the list of publications and articles but couldn't find the exact one.  Maybe I missed it but could you please spell it out for me?

Thanks, Mom to a DD with ADHD, 8 years old

Another website where you can get the whole school packet to set a program up with the school I had it in the book I got when I went to an all day ADHD seminar from the university so here it is.

There is other good information there for you as well.  Jill

now no need for scanning also you can change some of the goals or add to it depending on your childs need areas.  The people running the study is going to my girls school after they start and will do one tailered to her needs along with the teachers input.
