My son is 5 years old and has many medical issues since he was born.  He was also dignosed with Sensory Intergration Disorder at age 3.  We have come a long way with his Sensory issues, but I am afraid there is more to his behavior.  We have our first appointment to see a psychiatrist next week Friday.  But I just want to see if this sounds like ADHD to any of you who have been through it.

He is a not stop talker.  If he's not talking to me or his imaginary friends he is making noises.

He is extremely active..Running Jumping when not approiate..

Constantly touching every thing and every one

Extremely agrumentive on every subject

Can't even sit still to play a simple board game.  He is doing headstands, etc.

Is almost 6 years old and I can count the number of times he has slept through the night on one hand

Has a hard time playing with other children because he jumps from one activity to another so quickly.

Extremely aggressive.  Notes home from summer school this year indicated that he plays much rougher than his other classmates

Refuses to participate in activites at school and daycare

Activity seems to stimulate him.  ie playing out side all day.  Some parents will say ohhh he'll sleep good for your tonight....I only wish it only seems to make him more wound up.

I am honestly to the point where if the psychiatrist doesn't medicate him he better medicate me!!!  I know this sounds terrible, but I need to sleep through the night just once!!! and the constant arguing is just wearing on me!!!  I have people tell me that I am raising an animal.  Grandma & Grandpa tell me that I am raising a rude little boy. 

We have tried everything on the discpline front that I can think of and nothing works.  I recently took a parenting class called Love & Logic and none of that helped either. We tried spanking, time outs, taking away privileges, toys, etc.  He tried yelling, we tried talking in calm voice. We tried tokens in a reward bucket.  Nothing seems to phase him.

Does this sound like ADHD?  If so, what can we expect at our first visit to the psychiatrist?  What type of testing do they do to dignose someone?

Hi my name is ashley and im a 17 year old lad from england and all that uve just described reminds me of all the fings my mum once told me about how i was like wen i was younger, so all of that sounds like ADHD to me.

so basically all you can expect from your 1st visit as ive been to one before is dat dey will just do sum concentration tests and sum basic tests like how can dey get him to concentrate more, i found that having a ball in my hand to fiddle with while working helps me to concentrate more so u could try that, or when tlkin to him hold his hands that always worked when my mum tried.

ok i hope all this helps but if they suggest trying medication i recommend a medication called Concerta XL im on it at the moment and it works perfectly hope all this reali is a help to you.
