I am 21 years old and don't have medical insurance to pay for the medications I need to deal with the ad(h)d that I suffer from. As an alternative I smoke marijuana. The marijuana helps my mind relax, so that I am not thinking of 20 things all at once. I have been doing this for the past 4 years and I do that feel that it has lowered my IQ or slowed me down from me day to day process. When I smoke marijuana it increases my concentration a lot and allows me to fully concentrate on what I am doing. Also since I started smoking I notice that my grades in school have went up from a 75% average to now a 90% or better average. although I don't think this may work for everybody It is worth a try. Please reply and let me know if this is helping anybody else.
TrajicKaos,
I find your argument that you can't afford the legal medications pretty lame because it can't be much more than the marijuana you buy. If you choose to use illegal drugs you are opening yourself up to some pretty nasty legal problems if you are ever arrested.
As a parent and also a person who has done illegal drugs including marijuana in my youth I would urge you to rethink your strategies for coping with the challenge of ADHD in your life. Your suggestion that others try this is also objectionable as there are young people with ADHD who read these boards. Urging use of illegal drugs such as marijuana is not a solution for them. I would help my children buy the medications they need when they become adults but I wouldn't supplement their illegal drug habits.
You didn't state that you have ever taken any approved medications for ADHD. Have you? Have you asked your parents for help? Have you looked into any programs for assistance to purchase the medications you need?
