Is this the ADD? | ADHD Information

OUr son seems to almost just get bored when playing with kids.    He's fine for approx 20 minutes then starts acting out or crying about something.

I really don't know how to handle it or how to help him (he's 4).    And I probably make it worse by keeping him away from kids mainly.  Anyone agree?

No, this does not sound like ADHD. My daughter loves playing with others however after about 20 minutes to an hour she goes off on her own or the peers do then she re-connects sometimes she can sometimes she cannot.

sorry elle,i forgot if you already posted this, but what is is diagnosis and who diagnosised him?

whatevever the reason for his behavior, you should persevere, even if you start with say 10 mns then built it up.what do you do,when he cries out?

No dx,  went to sev docs, nothing except probable, at risk for adhd, would not say for sure, gave us the test from myself and teacher.

When he cries due to sensitivity, I tell him to stop, they're only joking, or it's ok, etc etc etc.

Did you son have any speech delays or other strange behaviors? I would have him see a NeuroPsych. We can't diagnose here. ADHD sounds like a lot of disorders--they tend to mimic symptoms, however each disorder is a different sort of treatment. Nobody here knows if your child has ADHD or not. I'd do the NeuroPsych and see what that professional says. You can find them at university hospitals and they are THOROUGH. No fifteen minute appointment and a diagnosis pulled out of a hat, as so many professionals do. It's kind of scary at how fast many professionals diagnose and medicate without even testing to see what disorder th e child's performance points to. A teacher is not qualified to diagnose. School districts tend to be horrible in that regard too. I'd take him to somebody with high credentials or else you're just guessing. What works for one disorder doesn't work for another. You kind of have to know the demon you face. Good luck.  pammar38964.3424074074No speech delays at all.   Strange behavior:   kind of tenses up his body whenever, not sure what triggers it.    SEems to like the "feeling".   Possible sensory issues.
