I am really confused as what to do.  My son is 14 years old and was tested last year in school and does have some learning disabilities.  He receives help in school but is in regular classes.  He gets things like extra test time and read aloud with a extra teacher.  I am having a problem with him and it is not getting better.  They have been back in school about 2 weeks and his teacher has done contacted me twice.  He can not sit still and has to always be moving, which he is like that at home to and I just over looked it.  He is real easy to distract and daydreams alot.  Also he just don't listen and does things he has been told not to do and I am always having to get on him.  He has a little brother that is 7 and he is always being mean to him.  There are some other things but was wondering if it sounds like ADHD and if he is to old to be getting it? What should I do.  Thanks for taking the time to read my problem. There are adults with ADHD, it's not really something you grow out of.  It sounds like he's always had it.  I would read Driven to Distraction by Hallowell and Ratey and Stopping ADHD by O'Dell.  Who tested your son?  In our case, our pediatrician did first (he just looked at Pat squirming on the exam table.  We had been waiting for 1 1/2 hours).  We took him to a neuropsychologist and she did all the testing and came up with a diagnosis.  If you can do that, that's what I'd suggest.  Does your son take meds?
A EC teacher in the school system tested him and they sent them of and come back that he has a learning disability but is in regular classes and also makes pretty good grades.  He is on no meds cause I don't know who to take him to or what to do.  Who should I call tomorrow to get a appointment because he has a teacher that is getting real upset with him that he can not sit still and I want it handled before she gets the office involved like she has threated to do.  I want to get him ALL the help I can because he does want to go to college some day.  Because after reading I do believe he may be ADHD.
