Hello,
My DD is 8 and in the third grade. She is taking Concerta 36 mg but it doesn't seem to work for her anymore. Last year it worked for her but just okay and her appetite was horrible. I've been afraid to ask her Dr to increase the dosage but I read in one of the posts that there are additional meds that can help with appetite. Can anyone give me some more info on this to take to my Dr?
Thanks alot for this website...it is a lifesaver!
What kind of doctor does your daughter have? Guanfacine (Tenex) or clonidine are sometimes given to improve appetite and augment the stimulants (they also work on some of the ADHD symptoms). Here is a table with information on many meds used for ADHD.

The doctor she is seeing is a child psychiatrist. I've told him several times that her appetite is diminished when she takes the meds. But he doesn't seem to be concerned. After hearing that there is additional meds to help her with that I kind of ticked that he didn't inform me of these to help her. I think I will begin to search for a new DR. Thank you for the web site also. Laura
Is she actually losing weight? That would more be an indicator of whether the meds are a problem.
