I just found this wonderful resource and I'm excited to share my experiences.
I have an eight year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD two years ago. He is currently on 27mg Concerta with great results. He takes 3 mg of melatonin at bedtime. One of the things that really helped with his behavior is his Tae Kwon Do class. He goes three times a week and his currently a Brown belt. What a boost for his self esteem!
Last year, in second grade with a lot of hard work between his teacher and I, and of course my son ... we had a super year! He was making friends, reading at grade level and doing above grade level work in math.
Now my problem and why I came looking for more information and found these boards. Third grade started three weeks ago. The teacher, when I met with her on the first day of school appeared to be supportive. We were very excited to continue all we had accomplished last year. Well, in three short weeks this teacher undid all we worked for and my son was suddenly having angry outbursts which he never had before. The kids in his class had begun teasing him and when I approached the teacher, she said it was his fault. When my son asked to do his school work in the hall (a provision of his 504) she called me and said "he's the one causing all the disruptions in my class, why is he asking me that) At the end of last week, after listening to this woman trash my son, I completely pulled my son out of school. I have since enrolled him in a home school/ distance learning program where he will work with a teacher over the computer and telephone, with me assisting him at home.
I am so hurt by this one teacher and have a hard time comprehending that all our hard work was undone in such a short time. She was extremely negative toward my son.

I don't even know what to say. We need some of those emoticons that give hugs here.
I'm so sorry that you've run into such a teacher. Have you talked with the administration about it? What did they say?
I know this hurt, but, beyond that, what did she claim your son did? What sort of behaviors did he have?
(First, I will warn you, there is a member here that will most likely say your son has more than just adhd, so DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT!! Ignore it and move on.)
I would call an ard meeting NOW! even with your son not attending classes. Then I would call every school board member, ever councilor, every principal and every administrative authority I could think of. And send a message to EVERY one of them in writing, saying just what you said. If she did not follow the 504, then she can and should be punished. That is a legal binding document, at the state level. I would even report the teacher to the State Board of Education! It does not matter too much what she "says" your son did or didn't do, what matters is in 3 weeks she tore you child's self esteem and did damage to him and she should be punished. PERIOD! you have legal actions you can take, and if i was you, i would take them.
Yup, what Ogram said.
I want to ask for the teacher's telephone no. so I can call and tell her off myself!
Good luck to you.
