strattera/lexapro | ADHD Information
When I started Strattera I felt horrible. The first day I took it I had to drive about 40 miles to work and almost didn't make it there. When I got to work I could do nothing but sit there and do the minimal amount possible. within a week the feeling went away but the strattera had no effect on me. Every time I up'd my dose I had to go through the same process. They say that Strattera effect is suppose to be effective immediately but for me it didn't start working until I hit the 3 month mark. (thats what I get for taking a non-stimulant I guess.) If I was you I would take a day..maybe a weekend..and just not take your Strattera and see if your mental state changes. If your at a low dose it shouldn't cause too much of a change. If it turns out that its the Strattera causing the problems get rid of it and try something else. Stangcotic38967.687650463
3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with ADHD and was started on strattera and lexapro. other than my head finally being quiet, I don't feel any different and am more edgy and much more depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts. Anyone have this experience or any advice? Thanks
If your head is being "quiet" I would guess that the Strattera is having some beneficial affect. Both of these meds sometimes take 4-6 weeks to become fully effective so you may be experiencing side-effects that may go away, or they may not be what you need.
I was on Lexapro not too long ago and I quickly developed this incredibly strong attitude of "I don't care" -- not in a depressed way, but in too laid back way. My doc switched me to another med which doesn't seem to cause the same mindset as Lexapro.
It's not uncommon to rotate through a few different meds until the right balance/combination is realized.
Make sure you're keeping your doctor up-to-date. If your doctor is not a pysch, then you may want to consult with one, or a therapist experinced w/ ADD. They will be much more familiar with the nuances of the meds you're taking.
