What I would suggest is - talk to one of these people in your area that are having it prescribed and find out who their doctor is.  This doctor may be more educated in regards to ADHD medications than your doctor and you may get better help from him. - Then make an appointment and see how you go.I live in South Carolina and my son has ADHD.  There are a few  schools here that specialize in teaching children with ADHD and learning disabilities, but they are sooo..... expensive, ,000 annually.  Do you know of any financial assistance programs that will help pay for these type of programs?

Why do you want to get straterra prescribed? The doctors are the ones that should be suggesting medications. If you go in to an appointment and say I want strattera, it's just as bad as the parents that go in to the doctors and say my child has adhd. Without being tested you really don't know what is wrong and unless the doctor is knowledgable about adhd telling him what you think is worng or what your child should be on will just get you the wrong diagnosis and medication.

If the doctor specializes in ADHD you can of course ask about strattera and say you know of others in the area that have had success with it. Of course others success has nothing to do with whether you will have success with it. All these meds work so differently in everyone that it is impossible to tell what will work and what won't. Even people in the same family react differently to the same meds so it really is an very individual experience.

Some questions I have is why are you having trouble getting it prescribed?

What doctors are you going to that have refused?

Are they knowledgeable in ADHD?

Have you or your child been diagnosed with ADHD?

Have the doctors you've seen suggested other medications or have you been on other meds to treat ADHD?
