My 7.5 year old son has been on Adderall XR for several months and 10 days ago the dose was increased to 25mg. Since he started this new dosage he has been getting up sooooo early. He will be up at 5:45am. He goes to sleep fine, but is this new dosage to blame? He has always been a great sleeper even on his meds and would always sleep until his alarm went off on school mornings. He goes to bed at 8:30pm on school nights. He has very active days playing organized soccer and we have a normal evening schedule.
Any thoughts or experience if AdderallXR can be the cause of his early awakenings?
I think that you should consult your doctor, as it sounds as if it could be the the increase in medications causing the problem. It is a stimulant, and perhaps this is too large of a dose. My daughter often has difficulty falling asleep at night, she has always had some problems in this area. Her sleep does not seem to be effected much by the Adderall XR. I also take it, and I think that I did have more problems with waking up during the night for about the first week that I was taking it.
