Child 4, is grabbing toys from others at school, yelling back at teacher when reprimanding him and he would behave badly at last years school too.
He got an "at risk for ADD" based on test. Is this the behavior pattern typical of ADD? Or is it a discpline problem only? Thank you all.
Looking at these symptoms alone, I would say they don't seem like adhd, nor does it sound like a behavioral issue. Sounds like kid behavior to me, especially for a four-year-old.

BPQW38971.5403819444While low frustration levels, which can lead to anger, are typical of ADHD, the symptoms you cite are not the only ones an adhd child would exhibit. These few symptoms are not enough to diagnose adhd, nor is anyone here really able to do that. Get a solid workup from a psychiatrist, which would include observations from teachers. Good luck!I am asking if they are TYPICAL sypmtoms. That's all.
I do know there would or COULD be other symptoms.
The grabbing toys could be an impulsive ADHD behavior but I am not sure about the yelling at the teachers. All children with ADHD are different, my little guy is not the oppositional type. I am sure that there are other posters who have experienced the behavior your ds is exhibiting.

*Sounds like what happened to us and we were told she would outgrow it. When she began kindergarden low and behold problems and they approached me and screened her the school psychologist who came up with ADHD. I recommend if you did not already getting your own child psychologist they do a better screening and they can help you with a behavior plan and diagnosis. I was told they do not like diagnosing at a young age I wish you the best Jill

My son behaves differently for teachers LOL he is always kind to them so we haven't had this issue but he does yell at me and my husband when he's aggrivated or frustrated and grabs toys from others
Hello. I'm new here. but if I may chime in, that sounds like exactly the report I got when we first checked my son for ADHD. Bingo, he had it. However, the hitting and arguing with adults actually indicated ODD.Is this a 4 year old or your child #4? Anyway here are the symptoms.
Inattention: Refers to getting easily sidetracked by distractions. People with ADHD may have trouble staying focused and paying attention, at work or play. They may also have trouble with details and they avoid tasks with too much thinking. In addition they are often forgetful and have difficulty listening.
Hyperactivity: This is when people have trouble sitting still. They may be unable to sit through a lesson or show self-control. They often talk a lot and are in constant motion.
Impulsivity: This is when people are impatient. They may have trouble waiting or taking turns. They often interrupt others and may say or do something without thinking about it first.
Hope that helps.
There is no yes or no answer to this question because every child has different personal circumstances and different family dynamics that could provoke such behaviors that may have nothing to do with ADHD. Dicispline problems have an under lying reason. Grabbing toys from another child is impulsive but then again there are many disorders in which children exhibit impulsive behavior. Although your child is only 4, getting him tested would be wise because if nothing else, together with the doctor you can implement a behavior modification plan for starters and observe how he progresses in the mean time. Good luck
I would watch the child, and try to do lots of positive reinforcement. Good luck. It could be yes or no. My son never yelled at teachers, and only occassionally took toys from others, but he would not stop going.Rather than guessing, or asking parents on an ADHD site, it's probably best to take your child in for a multi-disciplinary evaluation (you can get these complete evaluations thru university or children's hospitals) or see a NeuroPsycologist (make sure the "Neuro" is there). Nobody here can really tell you what's wrong with your child as those symptoms are not typical of any one disorder and CAN be symptoms of many and, of course, none of us are professionals. Good luck.
