I want to ask if anybody ever had a teacher tell you that your child is not gonna graduate and the child only being in elementary school?  My son was in 2nd grade at the time in the state of Ill now hes in 6th so when my son does graduate i will be back to that school and let them know in the mean time i let everyone know in the beginning of every meeting i have with any teacher he might not be as fast of a learner than other kids but i believe everyone can learn just on their own time.Sounds like this teacher needs a reality check. Wish I was there to help you. Reality checks are my specialty.

Don't sweat it. If it was off the cuff, ask for an explanation. If it was heart felt, then it is time to find a new teacher. Either work to move your child out of this class, or work to move this teacher out.

I have only one thing to say, whether it was a mistake on the teachers part or not. This teacher is a dumb *ss!

Good luck, deep cleansing breaths, kick ass for your child!

JMHO, sorry if it offends you. It's meant to give you support.
No, that has never happened to me or anyone I know.  I can't believe a teacher would say this to you!  Even in jest!  And I love your attitude about learning.  Everybody learns at their own pace, so what if it is at a slower pace?  Good for you!

Wow, if Dillon's teacher said that to me, I would be STRAIGHT to the principals office! What nerve she has!!!!!!!!

What did you say to her? Have you told anyone?

they were all in there i couldnt handle awhile back that they said my son was mildly retarded in which by the way that word is called the r word i dont like referring to that word mentally challenged is way better anyways thats why they said my son was not gonna graduate and i should try and accept it i did straight up tell them they have no right to judge any child because they dont know what a future holds with any child then i had to leave before i said something i would maybe regret or make it a hard time for my son. but thats why i bring it up in every meeting to let them know where i stand.

i was told my daughter should be locked up by a teacher when my daughter was about 9 the teacher soon left and daughter carried on wih her education, right up to finishing collage, this teacher was even teaching special needs class and the whole class had diferant things wrong with them,

you tell ur daughter: YOU GO GIRL WAY TO GO! WE ARE VERY PROUD.

Recee......... the next time you ever have ANYONE suggest that your son can't graduate..... you look them directly in the eye and say "he CAN!"

Then you direct them to this inspirational website/video:

It is very inappropriate and harsh for a teacher to say this about any student.  I agree with Dillonsmom, I would go directly to the principal with this one.  If I did not get satisfactory results, I would go to the superintendent's office.  If students hear this kind of remark about themselves, they will start to believe it, too.  Also, if the teacher is making this type of remark to you, what type of messages is she conveying to the students in the classroom when she knows that she is not being watched by parents or superiors?
