While taking adderall, one should avoid ascorbic acid because it interferes with the absorption of the medication.
Not to sound ignorant, but could you clarify ascorbic acids?? Thanks. I'm on week two of Adderall XR 20 mg and was wondering if there was anything in particular that I should NOT be eating and drinking or anything in particular that I should be eating to help my body metabolize properly. Someone said peanut butter was good as it is a good source of protein. Also, I heard no citrus....does this mean none at all, such as oranges, limes, green tea with citrus??You should get a printout from the pharmacy. I believe all pharmacies are required to give you a full document if you ask. There are many dos and don'ts and they have them all.
Not just citrus - all acids are able to slow down the XR meds. Opposite goes for antacid - it can increase the dose unknowingly so avoid.
Try to take the med same time every day too. It helps keep you on track.
Thanks so much to both of you. Today, I cut out coffee and my diet green teas and it's amazing how much better I'm doing on the adderall. Not as edgy, calmer and a clear focus. It's interesting to understand how your body breaks down these meds. Also, I'm sure I got a print out at the pharmacy but knowing my add self, I was completely incapable of sitting down and reading it at that point of treatment.
