Hear hear Glen

I've low-carb'd for a while now and it is one of the best things I've been able to do to optimize the meds.

Wow!  Thanks for that tip.  I've noticed also, when I cut out chocolate, the meds work much better.

Eating peanut butter toast in the morning seems to extend/optimize the meds for me as well.
I find that since I've started treating the ADD with meds, I sleep much better, the anxiety is slowly going away (which by the way, many people say that if you have anxiety problems, you shouldn't take adderall xr....I take it and it has helped with my anxiety)

I think the anxiety is going away because I am able to accomplish things that I never could before, hence it's out of my mind.  Just wanted anyone out there that may be considering adderall to know that it doesn't cause anxiety in ALL people.

And one very important aid to maximizing the meds ... SLEEP. The other items don't matter if you're not getting enough rest.

Use adderall

Still drink juice

Still drink coffee--only 1 cup in the am..and NOT giving it up.

Satisfied with how adderall has worked for me.

Oh yeah..and when I have sinus problems I take sudafed.

Ivanhoe/oldtimer is a strong believer in whatever fringe remedies come out.  There are companies that claim they can diagnose anything from ADHD to autism through urine and blood (they can't) and they charge a premium to "diagnose" and no matter the test there are expensive "remedies" required.  They'd get tap water in the mail and you'd find it contains epilepsy or something.  Scam all the way.

One thing I don't think I've mentioned that helps is to reduce carbohydrate intake.  I find that it keeps my blood sugar nice and stable and by upping my water-soluble fiber (veggies) and protein I feel more energetic and don't get the ups and downs during the day.  It's fairly new this diet for me - but I've been able to reduce my IBS and not feel sluggish like I used to get after the meds stop working at the end of day.

A sensible diet is good no matter if you have ADHD or not - and I think with our tendency to run ourselves ragged that low-carb helps.  Not NO carb mind you - everything should be balanced.

Hi...I am new to this message board thing.
