My son is in honors math and his add causes him to space out half the class. Sometimes he misses most of the material. The teacher is concerned. The answer is not to drop him back to an easy class where he doesn't need to pay attention, but to figure out ways to keep his attention.
Any suggestions? He's in 7th grade.
A few I thought of are sitting in the front, moving his class to the morning rather than afternoon, a stress ball, and maybe a tape recorder.
Is he on meds? Yes, he's on focalinxr 10 mg but we are going to try to go to 15mg cause he's bigger this year. The higher dose may help but other strategies would also be good.
I like the idea of recording the class. They have some very tiny recorders that you can buy and he can replay the tape before the test or that evening if he has time. I saw one that looked like a ball point pen...kinda cool.
Also, see if he can get a copy of the notes from a good note taker.
