Weakness | ADHD Information

Hi,

Does anyone experience weakness in their legs while taking adderall, or once it has worn off? I'm considering seeing a neurologist, because I experience weakness in my legs when I get nervous, even when i'm not on any medication at all.  However, since adderall speeds up the central nervous system, it has the same effect of causing the weakness.  Having ignored the symptom for a while, I thought the medication was supposed to make you feel weak, because it's more popular on the ADHD side than the ADD side.  I'm starting to notice that while it calms me down, it also makes me feel weak, which I don't think is normal.  Perhaps my nerves aren't wired right, or maybe I have nerve damage, I'm not sure, but any input would be appreciated.

No this is not a normal thing nor is a common side effect of Adderall (not that I am aware of any way)

I would highly recommend consulting a doctor. You said you have this feeling even when not taking medications then it is probably not the medications.

it is a known phenomenon that when one is nervous one can get 'weak-kneed' or shaky-legged --- so i guess it is an effect of anxiety and the adderall is slightly upping your level of anxiety which maybe you don't notice consciously but physically your legs get weak... i don't know why this happens to people but definitely heard of it before, many times.

i don't think it is a usual side-effect of Adderall but it makes sense and doesn't seem abnormal to me.

but no harm in asking your doctor about it, anyway.  he might be able to give you some good techniques for lowering your anxiety levels which would solve the problem (or put you on an anti-anxiety medication but i would avoid adding more meds if you could).  good luck.
