Hang in there.  You as the parent have to know that your decisions are right and that you are a good parent.  Too many times I question myself.  My son is having similar problems.  He is too far behind in reading and is failing spelling.  We just started him on Daytrana and it seems to be going well so far.  May have to up the dose in a few weeks, we will see.  His teacher said that he was just finishing all his tests too fast and failing them.  I always worry about his grades and if he will pass.  It is so hard.  I am sorry that you are feeling so frustrated.  YOU ARE NOT ALONE!Suzan---I was going to ask, what type of med experiences did your daughter go through?

Does this happen to anyone else?  Every beginning of the school year, I think "this year is going to be different".  My daughter ends the previous year strongly and begins the first few weeks of the new grade strongly.  Then CRASH!!!  Everything falls apart.  She is having to retake a test that she made and "F" on, it takes 3 hours to do homework, she is scoring low on standardized reading tests (when she can read and comprehend very well!), she is just behind and falling further!!!!!

After a couple of years of HORRIBLE med. experiences, she is not on meds.  She has learned a lot of coping skills at just 9 years old.

I taught school and understand these children, but when it is my own, it is SO hard to be patient!!!  I am calm for a while and then I begin to get worried and anxious about if she will even make it to the next grade.

Any similar experiences and/or advice??
