msnbc article, 9/19Did not smoke during twin preg. -1 with ADHD 1 without, Premature possible cause?? Smoked 1st month of daughter preg. meconium aspiration, No ADHD, but getting a preteen attitude :(
Oh and no lead here either, all testedI smoked with both of my children and my son has it and my daughter hasn't been diagnosed with it. I smoked a lot more with my daughter than my son. What does that say? Neither my husband or I smoke never did and we do not let anyone near her that smokes.I think Meconium aspiration just might be the cause ..............oh just kidding. No smoke during pregnancy one twin adhd and one not. no lead-kids were tested.I didn't smoke during pregnancy, my son has ADD that the neuropsych attributed to not getting enough oxygen during deliver. Ds swallowed muconium and the doc said that's enough to do it.The "what causes ADD/ADHD" is a stupid argument. It's like asking what causes people to have cancer or get an upset stomach. The answer is "LOTS OF STUFF!!!!" I don't smoke, but my son also swallowed muconium at birth. CAUSE IT RELAXS IS WHY. PAST SMOKERS WE KNOW. I smoked while pregnant . My dad has ADHD, his mom did not smoke. My brother has ADHD my mom smoked. Yup I saw the same article. I think we need to do a poll....no smoking here while preggers.Article i came across this morning that i thought i'd pass along. 1 in 3 ADHD cases linked to lead, smoke. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14897034/
I smoked with both sons. The oldest has ADHD, the other doesn't. I smoked 1-3 cigs per day with the oldest, 3-5 per day with the youngest. I thought if I just smoked a few the kids would be fine. I will always carry the guilt that I screwed up my son's life. I have been smoke-free for 1 year, 3 months. Cigarettes should be against the law. It is the hardest thing in the world to quit. And I didn't know that they put all sorts of chemicals in the tobacco, until I quit last year and found the list of chemicals/additives on the whyquit website. |
