I smoked with my son and he as adhd. I also smoked with my daughter and she is the total opposite.  She is the perfect angel.  They are always trying to come up with something that causes adhd. Anything can casue it, the air you breath, the food you eat, our society causes it.  We never had this problem when I was growing up.  But these days these poor little ones are being diag with adhd or something else.

Did not smoke during twin preg.  -1 with ADHD 1 without,  Premature possible cause??

Smoked 1st month of daughter preg. meconium aspiration, No ADHD,  but getting a preteen attitude :(

Oh and no lead here either, all testedI smoked with both of my children and my son has it and my daughter hasn't been diagnosed with it. I smoked a lot more with my daughter than my son.

What does that say?
I didn't smoke during pregnancy, my son has ADD that the neuropsych attributed to not getting enough oxygen during deliver.  Ds swallowed muconium and the doc said that's enough to do it.

The "what causes ADD/ADHD" is a stupid argument.  It's like asking what causes people to have cancer or get an upset stomach.  The answer is "LOTS OF STUFF!!!!"
I don't smoke, but my son also swallowed muconium at birth.  Yup I saw the same article.  I think we need to do a poll....no smoking here while preggers.

Article i came across this morning that i thought i'd pass along.

1 in 3 ADHD cases linked to lead, smoke.

CAUSE IT RELAXS IS WHY. PAST SMOKERS WE KNOW.  I smoked while pregnant.  My dad has ADHD, his mom did not smoke.  My brother has ADHD my mom smoked.    I was pretty young when I got pregnant (18) and already living on my own, so smoking and drinking were regularly scheduled passtimes at that point.  Luckily I realized I was pregnant quickly and had quit smoking by 2.5 weeks.  I still feel guilty about the 6(?) shots of vodka I did about a week before I quit smoking.  Both the pediatrician and the neuropsych have reassured me that I didn't do any harm, especially since I quit so quickly, but I think I'll always have the little corner of doubt in my mind.Neither my husband or I smoke never did and we do not let anyone near her that smokes.I think Meconium aspiration just might be the cause..............oh just kidding.  No smoke during pregnancy one twin adhd and one not.  no lead-kids were tested.

I smoked with both sons. The oldest has ADHD, the other doesn't.  I smoked 1-3 cigs per day with the oldest, 3-5 per day with the youngest.  I thought if I just smoked a few the kids would be fine.  I will always carry the guilt that I screwed up my son's life.  I have been smoke-free for 1 year, 3 months.  Cigarettes should be against the law.  It is the hardest thing in the world to quit.  And I didn't know that they put all sorts of chemicals in the tobacco, until I quit last year and found the list of chemicals/additives on the whyquit website.
