Meds dont work | ADHD Information

Share
Hi. I am 21 years old and have been recently diagnosed with ADHD inattentive type. My doctor started me on Strattera, and I have been taking it for 3 weeks at 60mg. I have seen no improvements at all. If anything it has made me more lazy, un-motivated, and un-focused than I already am.
I was wondering if anyone has taken strattera and seen no results, what would be the best med to try next?

Thanks Andiec138264.4226273148Have you considered that the diagnosis is incorrect.  Or perhaps you have some depression.  Perhaps a second opinion may be called for.

I dont have expereience with Straterra but what I do know is that with ADHD medications, what works for one doesnt always work for a another. Because its all very individualstic, a trial of meds is always done before the right med at the right dose is found. I would indeed contact your doctor at this point and ask him what adjustments or changes might be needed in terms of the medication. Becasue everyone responds differently, unfortunately you wont find your answers in opinions. Contact your doctor and pleased keep us posted

I am actually going back to the doctor tomrrow. I just wanted some opinions to see if anyone else had zero results from strattera.Went to the doctor today, and I told her about Strattera not doing that much. I stopped taking the med for about 4 days, and the funny thing was that I actually noticed things about myself that I wasnt doing while on medication. So the strattera obviously was doing something, just not enough. So my doctor thought we should try to up the dosage to 80 mg (thats the max I can take) If I dont see any more improvements in 1 month then she wants to try me on Concerta. I am alittle nervous about taking an actual stimulant, so I hope the strattera works better.Andiec1 you are so funny .  Isnt it amazing how we dont notice things till they are gone!  I am pleased you discovered that the strattera was not a waste of time and am very interested to see how the increase works for you.Well it has been a couple of days on the 80mg of Strattera. I havent noticed any changes in my focus or attention span, but I have noticed how much more patient I am. I have a very short fuse, and the littlest things set me off. In these 5 days of 80mg strattera I have been more patient, more calm, and very relaxed and easy going. I havent broke out in a temper tantrum....yet. So far so good. Hopefully within the next few weeks I'll start to accomplish more in my school and work.
Wish me luck!
