Hey peachy,
Look at the thread on more med/sleep:
http://www.adhdnews.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=22218& PN=1
Everyone is different. For some, the return or rebound of symptoms around bedtime makes falling asleep more difficult. Setting the dosage times to have med in the system at bedtime helps. For others, getting all the med out of the system allows for sleep.
Some use the natural supplement melantonin, others add a second med like guanfacine. Everyone is different as to what works.
Did your 5yo have trouble sleeping prior to meds? Is it trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? This is all good stuff to discuss with the doctor to find a way to alleviate the sleep problems.
Good luck.
Thanks!!
No we never had any sleeping issues until we started the meds, he always slept great! This is not a problem we are use to.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my 5 year old to sleep. He use to be a great sleeper until he started him on adhd meds 2 months ago.he actually only takes concerta- 27mg dose in the morning. It is long lasting and althought the effects have worn off, there still seems to be enough in him to keep him up?[quote]No we never had any sleeping issues until we started the meds, he always slept great! When is his last dose of medication?
His last dose could be too close to bed time of he could be having a rebound effect where the ADD comes back with a vengeance.
