New to Daytrana... | ADHD Information

I hope you read the "Daytrana Anyone" thread. There's lots of great info
there from some of us who had children using the patch.

The patch worked great for us, but the appetite was horrible! Much
worse than any other medication we had used. We had to stop using the
patch after 5 weeks because of skin irritation that just wouldn't go away
within the 48 hours that Shire says it should.

The biggest thing for me was getting over the normal household rules of
not eating before bed, and everyone eating together at the dinner table .
I always would say "When dinner is on the table, you eat what we are
having" and that sort of thing. But, with the ADHD, the rules sorta have
to be bent. So, whenever my son, whose 6, is asking to eat, I usually let
him. That way, I feel better too knowing that he's eaten something. My daughter, who is 8, starting using the patch about 4 weeks ago. I constantly worry over whether we made the right choice. It is definately working, but the skin irritation is nasty & so is the appetite suppression. This is the 1st ADHD med she has ever taken. Big improvement in attention span & school performance, however, like I said I second guess myself constantly because of the side effects. We have made several changes and continue to do so every day, trying to help with the appetite loss part. My husband thinks she's eating enough, but I worry over whether she really is.She is the last thing I think of when I go to bed at night and the first thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning. Can anyone with experience with the patch offer any reassurance? thank you
