Say it ain't so... Is it true that Ritalin causes one to lose one's hair? Does anyone know how that works? How about other ADHD stimulant meds? For example, Adderall XR. The only frame of reference to my memory is hearing about Liza Minnelli's mother, who was addicted to uppers and had experienced hair loss. I suppose I'm vain but I have long hair am not looking to lose it. Can anyone help me out with some information? Have any of you experienced hair loss? I currently take Adderall XR but plan to go on Ritalin LA here in the near future. I thank you in advance.
I've been on several different meds for adhd and they all caused me to lose hair. At first I didn't realize it and thought it was because I was a few months post partum. I always loose hair after having a baby but after 14mos I was still losing. I went off all meds for about a month and the hair loss stopped. Now today I started on Strattera. I hope it works without that side effect.I've read where people have said they've had some hair loss with stimulants.just wondering,

The reason I ask is hair loss is usually related to the change in the levels of Testastrone in the body, (too much Testasterone can cause hair loss too)
on the same token, change in the level of testasterone can effect s.ex drive...so it's one way to tell...
A Urologist can measure the levels of testastrone in the body and tell us if it's at a healthy level or not. (actually any M.D can, but Urologist are specilized in it)

I will run my hand down a chunk of hair and all these hairs start coming out. I'm too young to go bald!!!!
