Due to the extreme amount of negative attention and responses to our post "There Are Alternative Choices For ADD/ADHD" the following research is provided by the Institute of Children’s Environmental Health.

Just maybe this post will help all those who felt that we have not done enough research to understand how others may be coping with the seriousness of ADD/ADHD. We have been challenged to provide as much proof of published public information as possible and we just don't want to let anyone down.

WARNING: For those who do not want to hear the truth or for those who do not like to read because we bored you the first time....you surely don't want to start reading now!!!! This is not spam, this is the information you asked for!!! You are now welcome to challenge the published arena that is provided.
PStandeford

Well … remember … you asked for it! 

The “research” is not research. It’s simply a list of facts without context.
Unfortunately, like in your previous post, you are taking “facts” out of context to support your opinions.

Also, you are clearly attempting to give readers the impression that a credible organization, “Institute For Children’s Environmental Health” validates your opinion that ADD is caused by environmental factors and that people should not pursue medication for their children.

Did you actually read this and any of the supporting material??? I thought you have three college degrees?

This list of facts and the organization that published it, makes absolutely no conclusion that ADD is caused by:

•    environmental factors
•    is a major influence in developing ADD
•    or recommends that pursuing non-medication therapies for ADD is advisable.

At best, some of the citations indicates that children exposed to certain toxic chemicals can exhibit behaviors associated with ADD.

The citations I reviewed did nothing to support your opinions and further validated your hateful attempts to mislead people.

For example: One of the facts is:

 • Children are Uniquely Vulnerable to Toxins: For example, small single doses of certain pesticides on critical days of a child's development can cause lifelong impacts on brain and body function, from learning disabilities such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to reproductive problems. (10)
 • Citation 10 is: "An Anthropological Approach to the Evaluation of Preschool Children Exposed to Pesticides in Mexico," Environmental Health Perspectives (1998) 106:347-353.”
Sounds convincing … doesn’t it. There’s just one problem. The actual article makes absolutely no mention of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). (http://www.mindfully.org/Pesticide/Preschool-Expos ed-Mexico-Guillette.htm).

I guess that answers the question of “Did you actually read this and any of the supporting material???”   Um …  you don’t have to answer that one any more.

Here’s another one.

 • Chronic Childhood Illness is on a Dramatic Rise: In 1997 to 2000, 6.7% of children ages 5 to 17 were reported to have been diagnosed with ADHD. (17) (I actually think they intended to link to citation 18 which reads,) “In 1997 to 2000, 6.7% of children ages 5 to 17 were reported to have been diagnosed with ADHD. America's Children and the Environment: Measures of Contaminants, Body Burdens, and Illnesses, 2003, U.S. EPA, Pages 14 and 96.

This is what this EPA report had to say about ADHD:

 • It is unclear whether the percentage of children with ADHD has increased in recent years. Although recently more children have been diagnosed with and treated for ADHD, this increase may not reflect an increase in incidence, but rather greater awareness of the condition due to media attention, development of effective treatments, or other factors. Continued tracking of ADHD in the coming years should be useful for evaluating trends in diagnosis of ADHD.

 • The role of environmental contaminants in contributing to ADHD is unknown, as few studies have looked explicitly at the relationship between ADHD and exposures to environmental contaminants.

I guess by now this reply to your “challenge” must be fairly embarrassing. I mean, if I were you I would just feel so ignorant. In fact, I would go demand the tuition money back for those three college degrees.

If you have been willing to read to this point you may ask yourself why am I being particularly hard on PStandeford.

A few weeks ago she submitted posts very similar to this where she uses half-truths and lies to support her opinions. She is making clear attempts to dissuade people from considering medical treatment for ADD in favor of some product or technique that has no credible proof of effectiveness … none.

She also choose to be derogatory and bigoted towards a board member who I have a great deal of respect for. She replied to him”
I am a patient as well but instead of feeling sorry for myself about how my brain just won't function clearly, I decided to put myself through college and earn three degrees and graduate valedictorian of my class! See unlike you, my son and I are extremely intelligent and do not need to DEPEND on medication.

I don't need to debate with you while your mind is quite clouded with your own personal incapabilities to cope with life without your medication. No, I don't sympathize with you nor do I feel I have slighted anyone else by letting them know that their are HEALTHIER, SAFER ALTERNATIVES......I can see that those words scare you to death.....so keep on arguing because that is exactly what those drugs make you do!!!
Also, PStandeford claims to be an advocate for children but she would rather steer children away from proven medical treatment.

I find her tactics to be evil and clearly self-serving.

The reality is that a non-toxic environment (in my opinion) is probably better for a child with ADD. Just like good nutrition is, plenty of sleep and lots of love, caring and support. That is a meaningful discussion for us to have.

But PStandeford has no desire for a meaningful discussion. She’s either trying to make money selling a product or she’s just trying to be self-righteous.

Regardless of her reasons … it’s important for all of us to be aware of vermin like this who seek to prey on people trying to deal with ADD.

I'm curious as to your point.

The point of the story is that most people have many toxins in their systems that they are unaware of and that some toxins can be dangerous. In fact they cited Mercury and lead which was old news decades ago.

They ended the story that the best thing you can do to protect yourself and family is to eat healthyand to not smoke. In fact, not one mention of "detoxing" a home.

Also, the risk they stated was that toxins can alter our genetic profiles and can increase risk for cancers -- again old news.

There was no mention of ADHD or cognitive brain functions.

So again, what's the point?

The story did nothing to support your previous assertions. In fact, by not making ANY mention of detoxing a home implies that your assertions are minor at best. If they were a major concern it's safe to assume that the two experts would have mentioned the need.
