Dexedrine question | ADHD Information

Is it possible that the pharmacy made a mistake when filling the rx? Perhaps the dr. did write the rx for spanules, but the pharmacy filled with immediate release (IR) on accident. If this is the case, returning to the pharmacy with the bottle of pills is the way to go. They should take them back & give you the correct rx (spanules) free of charge, or if spanules cost more, they should subtract what you paid for the IR from the cost. My son has been on Dexedrine spansules 15 mg a day for several months, and on lower doess for the past few years.  We recently moved to a new town and so are seeing a new physician.  We are going to try to change his medication (my doctor is consulting with their pharmacology panel for advice on the best way to switch him) but in the meantime she wrote him a 1 month prescription to tide us over.  I just went to the pharmacy and filled it, and instead of the spansules I was given tablets.  Near as I can find out on the web, the tabs are short acting and he will need to take them more than once a day, but the script is written for him to take it once a day.  I can't call until Monday, but I wonder if I just plain shouldn't give him the meds unless I have the proper form (spansules).  We still have some left from his old prescription but I hate to waste the $$ I just spent getting these.  I won't give it to him until I talk to the doctor though.
