Hi my 7 year old son, Louis, started Concerta about 3 weeks ago. His teachers already see a marked improvement in his behavior and attentiveness to learning.
Louis has been complaining of headaches for the last week. They last for about an hour to two hours. By anyone's experience or heresay, does this symptom disipate as the body adjusts to the medication? He is doing so well with concerta, I'd hate to take him off the med...
Thanks
Hi there...........
This is a new world for me. How many days after your son took med's did you see an improvement on Concerta What was mg dosage?
thanks
Hi,
Its all a learning curve that doesn't even kick in until you leave your denial at the door. I learned that the hard way. Louis has been on Concerta, 18 mg, for 20 days and there is a marked difference at both school and at home. I have been told the headaches will go away with several of the other persisting side affects.
I say my prayers every night
Hi there.
I have been on varying doses of Concerta for 3 years and have found that I get headaches when I start taking it after a few days off. For instance: if I dont' take it over the weekend, and start taking it again on Mondays, I tend to get real bad headaches. Does Louis skip weekend doses?
Another thing to think about is Louis' blood pressure on this medication. Some doctors think its a good idea to get a baseline heart-rate/blood pressure reading before starting this type of medication, and a follow up after begining Concerta. You could stop into your doctors office when Louis is having a headache just to make sure his blood pressure isn't through the roof. I wouldn't think you would need an apointment for just a quick blood pressure reading.
Hang in there...I think everyone has had to go through a trial period to determine which dosage/medicine is best.
Good luck
