I looked at their website, and I don't see any Vitamins in bioavailable forms. The Magnesium is in the form of Magnesium oxide, which is not bioavailable, and all the other minerals are the same. If they are not bioavailable then the body cannot use them efficiently.
My dd takes Omega-3's and magnesium, in the form of magnesium chelate, she takes 200 mgs mag., 750 EPA/450 DHA( omega's) and 100 mgs Vit E. Studies have shown that ADD/ADHD kids are dificient in omega's and magnesium in general. I have seena general improvement in her behavior since staring these, and her eczema is gone too....a bonus!@
edbson.... if you haven't already checked out the Alternatives to Meds section of this board you might want to!edbson:
Do you give this omega 3 and magnesium as a complementary part of an adhd medication. I was asking myself if this combination is helpful in managing symptoms and if it is possible to try it alone without a regular adhd medication. Just thinking of another more natural alternative that I coud try with my son in a vacation period.
Can you be more specific on the differences you are talking about? what vitamins exactly is your daughter taking? What amazing change do you mean?
I will be thankful if you answer!
This website is truly amazing. I have seen a huge difference in the vitamins my daughter is taking. We use Omega's as an everyday part of our diet, we are vegan so sometimes supplements are necessary. My dd takes the omega's in addition to her ADHD meds, as the fish oils alone are not enough to combat her innattentiveness.
keep in mind it is imperative when taking fish oils to also take at least 100 mgs vit E, to help the body form the long chain omega's
Her daily routine is: with breaky
Daytrana pacth 20 mgs
three 1200 mg fish oil capsules
100 mgs magnesium chelate
evenings with dinner: 1200 mgs fish oils, and 100 mgs magnesium chelate, 100 mgs Vit E
Maybe I will try this. I think that probably this would be a wise choice since my son's eating habits are not very good. What I am thinking right now is that (as I have seen those omega capsules) the capsules are kind of big to swallow for my son (he is six). I suppose that the oil taste is not good in the case that I break the capsule and try to mix the oil with something. Anyhow, I will see what I can do.
Thanks for the information!!
Mariaven.... you might want to check out the Alternatives to Meds section of this board -- there's a ton of info about both Omegas and Magnesium on there -- including liquid Omegas that taste good.
Megmaguire:
I will check that section. I am afraid that here in my country we don't have that liquid variety of omega but I will see what I find.
Thank you!!
