Adderall and coffee | ADHD Information

I'd like to start drinking a cup of coffee in the morning before taking my adderall as fall is approaching and I do enjoy it in the morning.  How long will the ascorbic acid stay in my system?  I don't want it to affect my meds.  In other words, how long should I wait until after my cup of coffee to take my medicine? I didn't know you were supposed to!  I take my Adderall every morning with my coffee!  I drink about 4 cups every morning.I learned in previous posts from deang, that the acsorbic acid in coffee lessens the effectiveness of the medication.  So, I tried going cold turkey without coffee and it's absolutely true.  I noticed my medicine worked better without it.  Also, orange juice, grapefruit juice and any citrus effects it as well.

**Avoid drinking large amounts of beverages containing caffeine (e.g., coffee, tea, colas) or eating large amounts of chocolate. Caffeine can increase the side effects of this medication.

When our son was diagnosed with ADHD and put on Adderall XR 2 weeks ago his Ped warned us about his amount of caffine he takes in and also things containing vitamin c - such as orange juice.
