It's common with amphetamines or any stimulant. It constricts the small blood vessels everywhere in the body and can lead to things like cold hands/feet, runny nose, tingling and cramps. Many symptoms all stemming from the meds and concerning the small blood vessels. Caffeine can do that in larger doses - any stimulant will.
Usually it passes. I found that with my dexedrine I got the sniffles for an hour after taking for about 3 months. The only remaining trouble from the constrictions is a mild irritable bowel (IBS) which is easily controlled.
As with any side effect check with your MD to make sure there is no underlying troubles you should know about.
hehe... Well the runny nose and being sleepy for a bit once it kicks in is the only side effects we are experiencing. I will have to mention the runny nose to my son DR, see if he has heard of anything like this before. Poor ds came home from school yesterday and his nose was all red from wiping it. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that sounds familiar...though to tell the truth, while I noticed I had a bit of a runny nose, I didn't attribute it to the Adderall, but I suppose it could have been. If a runny nose is the only side effect, I'd call that pretty good!Has anyone experienced a runny nose after taking adderallXR? The reason I ask is my son is on 15 mg of Adderall XR (newbie) ... and I don't know if I'm just going crazy or what.... But as soon as it kicks in my son's nose start running. And when it wears off... his nose stop running. Is that wierd or what?! Has anyone else experienced this?
