new med and worried | ADHD Information
After giving it more than a month, we've decided the patch isn't going to work for my daughter - too many skin irriatation and rebound issues. Today, the doc prescribed 10 mg of Adderall XR and I find myself feeling overwhelmed and scared about starting her on it tomorrow. My mind is running with all kinds of "what if's" and the more I read, the more stressed out I get. I'm having a hard time dealing with the whole med thing to begin with and now we're having to try something new. My daughter has been doing so well this year and I know it's probably because of the meds. I don't want to take that away from her (she's feeling much happier and less frustrated) but this medication stuff is so scary. These are serious drugs!
I have a friend whose daughter has done very well on Adderall and I guess I'm just hoping someone else can chime in with a positive experience.
So what do you say? Any help for a nervous mom?
Im new to this ADHD stuff too,im on adderal XR 30 mgs. I have to take some where between 60mgs and 90 mgs a day to actually see any benefit (its different for everybody), but since ive started it, my grades have went up tremendously, im getting more done, and the only side effect ive expirienced is trouble sleeping, a little dry mouth and that only happens when i take my meds late. I also have a friend who takes adderal XR, and he has had nothing but success with it. Just relax, i did the same thing you did when i started taking it. I Tried to find out every piece of info i could. None of that really helps because every medication works differently for different people. You wont know anything till you try it. Just make sure you monitoring how often you daughter takes her meds; cuz even i catch myself wanting to take more and more when it starts wearing off bc i have more stuff to do, and it seems the only way i get anything done is when the medication is working. Hope this helps, and let me know how adderal XR works out for ya..
