Concerta vs daytrana? | ADHD Information

So far, my son has vomited on focalin, adderall and metadate.

Concerta is sort of working for him. He was off it for the summer, and it is now his third week back on it. He's still getting bouts of nausea, and has thrown up a few times. Does anyone know if the Daytrana patch is easier on the stomach since it doesn't go through it?

Thanks in advance

I believe it is easier on the stomach due to being absorbed through the skin.  Unfortunaley, it is the same thing as Ritalin generic and has the same side effects as the oral.  Mainly just decreased appetite though for us.  Good luck!Nausea and vomiting are posible side effects listed for the patch. It might be different enough as not to cause this in your son though. I would think that it would be worth a try, especially if the doctor has a trial card for a free month. You said you had to stop the patch after 5 weeks, and are not on Concerta, but your sig says on Concerta. What medication are you using? ThanksMy son was on the 15mg Daytrana patch, and it made his stomach hurt for
the first couple of weeks. I was really surprised, because the pediatrician
and I really thought that it wouldn't cause nausea since it bypassed the
stomach/gut. But, after a couple of weeks, the nausea seemed to disappear.

We had to stop the patch after 5 weeks, and are now on Concerta. He hasn't
had any stomach aches with this med. So strange...go figure! We had a
really bad time with appetite on the Daytrana. Worse than on Focalin XR or
Straterra.ChrisDay2838987.4657060185I think ChrisDay meant now on concerta rather than not. Funny what a single letter can do...Oops...Yes I meant "now" on Concerta. Sorry!

We are using Concerta, 36mg and it's doing great for us. It seems to last
long into the evening. And, I've also noticed that most mornings seem to be
going smoother...before he even takes the medication.

Anyhow, sorry for the confusion.   My fingers move a bit faster than my
mind sometimes!
