That is fantastic!!! I would be sure and write a nice letter to the teacher, copying it to the principal, explaining what you just explained--how great it is for a child with a history of behavioral difficulties in school to receive such an award, what it means to you and your child. Schools need to know that doing this is a great idea and to keep doing it!!!

We love seing our children happy and successful.....tell him CONGRATULATIONS!Today something really incredible happened to me. I just want to share it with some of you readers because I feel sooooo happy!!!
I went outside my house to wait for the school bus as usual. When my son came down I noticed a medal around his neck. He seemed the happiest boy on earth. He came running to me a showed me a star shaped diploma saying: "Marcel: Today you are carrying the best male student medal, What a happy day!!! Congratulations". I hugged him and really wanted to cry. I know that many of you understand what it means to be called constantly from school. The frustration that your son may feel in not being able to grasp everything as the other students. The constant reminders on bad behavior. Today I am filled with joy to know that all the efforts are worth doing. The therapies, the medication, the team work, all!!!!!
I just can't believe that this happened today. It wasn't a dream, It was true.
I just hope this is the starting point of a happy childhood for my son; after all this is what I really want, his happiness.
