Its been forever since I've been able to post - for some reason I've been totally blocked from this board for over a year. Even reregistering under a different name didn't help. I totally gave up. Tonight, out of the blue, I remembered this place, and tried again - starting just with a new name, and voila! I have no clue why but this time I am allowed on!
My son is 7, 2nd grade with ADHD. Right before school started, we switched him from Ritalin 3x a day to Concerta - first 18mg and now 27mg. He had a nightmare kindergarten year, but flourished in 1st grade with a great teacher, and he got all A's and B's.
This past month has been hell. He's had a bully in his class that is a kid from down our street, so we dealt with that boy all last year and his various antics at the bus stop. Basically, a very long story short, we had to pull my son from his class and put him in another one. He had been getting C's and D's, hasn't brought homework home and all that so we knew we had to do something. He dug his heels in with the new teacher this week, and had some physical issues with other kids. Totally acting out.
Friday seemed to end okay. I had a meeting with the new teacher on Thursday after school and it went well. He told me he wants nothing more in his heart for my son to succeed. We agreed my DS will be defiant for a couple of weeks at least, but we also agreed to brainstorm and try to come up with some plans. We have a meeting scheduled to reinstate my son's 504 Plan / Chapter 15 in a few weeks.
Then today my DH and my DS got into some huge thing this morning, and my husband's been a jerk all day. He's involved in some self pity-party and barely even spoke to me or DS today.
This has been a crappy week! I'm sure glad that whatever computer god there is decided to let me on here tonight - I sure needed to vent!
Wow, cherish! I'm so sorry your son is having such a crappy time. Its so hard to watch them go through all that!
