Patch for adhd | ADHD Information
Thank you suzie, He was on a 30mg dose, its just a reg ped doctor. He is "fat" and I thaught it might not absorb however I have tried many places not so fatty. It sounds like you need some specialized help. There are doctors who help get meds right and I can't remember what the specialty is called. I know a psychiatrist may be able to help. You need more expertise than what a peditrician can give you. Did you ask about the different sites for the patch? You might try the small of his back or the top of his foot, if they won't bother him too much. You also might want to try adding a 10mg patch to raise it to 40mg. Getting meds and dosages right is a challenge, and you have to stick to it, but you'll find the answer.
I have a son who is ten and has a huge gag reflex and is unable to swallow pills so he is on liquide ritlan and fights every day cause its so bad so we tried the patch and it dint work for him, on the liquide he gets bad headachs and I feel so bad and helpless, he also has encoprsis( soiling in his pants and not able to feel it) well, I live in Illinois and was wondering if anyone else lives here and knows of a good doctor that treats adhd, I live in the western burbs, Thanks DianeDid you try more than one dosage on the patch? What kind of dr. is treating him? Have you visited the alternatives board? There's a lot there about diet and vitamin supplements that might help.
A pediatric gastroenterologist should be consulted for encopresis.
A board-certified child psychiatrist should manage the meds.
It sounds like you need a board certified child psychiatrist. one would be able to also help with the encopresis. The Daytrana patch is not affected by the amount of *fat* on the hip. How many were you using? Daytrana only comes in 10, 15, 20, and 40 mg patches.
