Focalin XR 2 Times a Day? | ADHD Information

Does anyone or anyone's child take focalin xr 2 times a day?  My son takes focalin xr 20mg in the morning and it's wearing off by noon.  The doctor wants to try adding a second dose at noon of focalin xr 10mg to get throught the afternoon at school and the bus ride home.  He's six and this seems like a lot of medication to me. What is everyone's experiences?  Thanks!

My son 6 too takes Metadate cd 20mgs  twice a day.  At 7a and at 11am.

Metadate is very similar to focalin. same formula.

If given only once, it wears off by 12noon and starts having problems at school.

I go to the school everyday now to eat lunch with him and give it to him then.

It has helped alot.   It is not too much.  Each child is different and you will see right away if is too much or not.   My son metabolizes very fast.

Bkrusen- My son used to do just that.  He would take a 20 mg in the morning and a 10 mg around 2 pm.  It worked out just fine.  The only issue we had .. was having to give 2 pills a day.  It was some what inconvience.

I sometimes take two 20 mg focalin xr, spaced at 8 hrs. (6 am & 2 pm).  But I'm still figuring out the right dosage, and I might take a little less.

I'm confused--I thought I was looking for the amount that worked.  If 20 mg works in the morning, did you find that a lower dose worked in the afternoon?

Thanks
