We go to a neurologist I have found her quite helpful. Our neurologist is really good with listening and prescribing the correct meds. It took us a while to get the meds right but she was patient and kept tweeking the meds till we got the best results with the fewest side effects. I am sure the developmental ped would be good too...perhaps you need to vist both and see what one you like working with the best.
Goodl luck
joemom38994.3838310185My son sees a psychiatrist who does his rx's. He helps, I think. I do not think you are on the wrong path with the development ped dr. Let me know how that goes, I'm curious to see how much that helps.I will be bringing ds to the doctor to get an official dx. I have 2 doctors a developmental pediatrician and a neurologist that can get me in their office in a timely manner. (these appear to be the two types in my area that work and are knowledgeable in ADHD) both deal with children with adhd. Which should I use or should i see both? My son was dx'd by the CST as moderate to severe. he has been on concerta 36 mg for quite a while now and it seems to be starting to have less of an effect. only "so-so" on his behavior the past couple of weeks, talking to much and throwing greenbeans in caf." ( i kinda chuckled at that one--bad mom!!) But anyway, what should I look for or look out for. I asked the receptionist at the neurologist if I should keep him off meds for that day so they can get the full effect but she said no. Any advice would help, thanks
I have the child on no meds this way they see the real them. Neuroligists helped me none. I would do the developmental dr. first then a NP also. They will check for it all not just adhd.
