Drugs.... | ADHD Information
CJ:
Except for the Sherlock Holmes part, very interesting! And I have to say that people that think that ADD/ADHD people are stupid should think twice! I read the entire encyclopedia at the age of 13 My head is filled with stuff that impresses people, but are totally unusefull

Thanks, realy informative and good answer!! I'll look it up! Anyway, I don't think my shrink will give my either, he uses another drug of some kind to block/increase the level of dopamine, but I will sure tell him what you wrote about the effect of coke and how I react on it
And to all you children out there, this is not an encouragenent to use any drugs
i think adderall will give you more of a similar effect to cocaine
than ritalin - which i think you might find a little speedy.
that's just my point of view - but if i was in your position i would
ask for ADDERALL first off rather than RITALIN. but
you go with whatever you feel happy with.
adderall works on the dopamine receptors in the same way (despite the
fact that people here get extremely TOUCHY about that subject!) as
cocaine.
it's interesting but - one will work for you better than another i
think. ie - if cocaine worked well for you, then i think (u can
look this up - i did ages ago but i've forgotten it all again now) you
are the type who needs to block the re-absorption of the dopamine as
opposed to the RITALIN type of drug which just stimulates the
production of dopamine (they presume that because the result is the same ie
more dopamine in the synapse for longer it doesn't make a difference - but actually it makes a BIG
difference and it is not the same. if you have a brain that
produces the correct amount of dopamine but you have faulty receptors
then taking ritalin to produce more will have a speedy effect - rather
than a cocaine-type which will simply block the re-absorption which i
think (for some reason - i don't know why i should think this) is more
your problem.
there is ALL SORTS of info on ADD/dopamine imbalance on the internet -
and you are obviously smart enough to look it up for yourself.
and you'll probably find it quite interesting too! in fact there
is quite a long topic on here somewhere.... about the subject if i can
find it - i'll drag it up!
(well, i dragged up one - the title is "dopamine" and it's under the
ADHD medications bit) or try clicking or pasting the below into your
address line.

chjones38994.4042708333Sorry folks, I'm posting a lot, but I have so many questions...., hope you will be patient with me
Anyway, I talked with my shrink a while ago about drugs, not medicine but drugs And it made me think a little, because I didn't know then what I know now.
I've tried almost everything except crack, opium and heroin. I still smoke a little hasjish now and then to relax, but the thing that made me realy feel great, to the point that I thought to myself that this is how life should be is cocaine! So my question is, cocaine and amfetamine (Ritalin is based on it I think) are they "related"? Will they do the same for our brain? I didn't feel "high" in any way, just very clear and concentrated! Will Ritalin or amf based medicines give me a similar effect?
And just to point it out, all that I've tried I normally try 2-5 times! Well, except for the hasjish then Anteros38994.3664583333Most likely. Some claim without the medacines people with attention problems self medicate. To me I guess that means all drug uses and alchol uses are add or adhd. Ya right!well - don't freak out if they don't work excellently (i am sure they will)!
but if they don't, don't be put off the idea of meds --- it just means that
those aren't exactly the right meds for you. and there are plenty of other
options out there like: dexedrine/adderall/concerta/focalin (which i think
is ritalin but just a bit different?) and so on and so forth! they are all
quick acting and in and out of the system fairly fast so you should be able
to notice a difference straight away. here's to your new life and unlocking
all that potential!
btw - not that i have been on meds myself - but personally i think it is a
good idea to get Cognitive Behaviour Therapy along with the meds to
help you get the most out of them - and the new you!
good luck.
Well, today my shrink prescribed me Ritalin, getting them on monday.... Looking forward to it! Hopefully this will help :) If not I will be very dissappointed! I wan't a "new" life! I'll have to say that coke helps a LOT with my ADHD, however, Adderall is way better than coke.

Meds won't help you get a new life, but they will help you fine tune the one you have!!!
Depending on the dosage, you will probably notice a little difference right away - but it takes time to figure out the right dose. Also - be prepared for some enlightment or extra benefits you may not expect. The medication made me feel more perceptive and I noticed things around me that I did not exactly expect to notice. It is hard to explain - but, after a few months of the meds, it was like the feeling, sensitive part of me was awake and catching up on lost time. WIERD!!! Concerta has helped me immensely!!!
