Strattera & Severe Sleepwalking | ADHD Information

Share
Hello!  I am new here and happened to find this board by doing some research about my 11 year old son who has ADHD & has been taking Strattera for 6 months.

Jesse was first diagnosed at age 2.  For the past 9 1/2 years I tried every other thing known to man to keep him off medication - diets, neurofeedback, enviromental etc.etc. - to no avail.  He was driving his teacher NUTS by the end of last year so I finally broke down and decided to try medication.

Jesse has also been an "active sleeper" his whole life - he has always eaten imaginary food &talked in his sleep but lately his sleep his changing and its scaring me....

His "sleepwalking" (for lack of a better term - this is what it seems to fall under in medical journals) has gotten so bad.  He has had 2 episodes lately - about an hour after falling asleep he will jump out of bed and sing songs (like he is onstage and playing for an audience) , play football, pretend he's showering, walk into walls and other bizarre and severe behavior.   These episodes last about 3 hours.  He has never had behavior in his sleep like this so I am wondering if there is a link to Strattera.

Does anyone in this group have a sleep disorder and noticed it got worse after taking Strattera?  If so what did you do?  Are there treatments?  He is on 4 18mg. capusles a day.

Thank You!

My family has had active sleepers for generations.

Could I suggest you finding a good Sleep Disorder Clinic in your area and starting there?
