Food Allergies | ADHD Information

Did have have any other symptoms from the food allergies besides the distractibility?  What types of foods is he allergic to?

 

Yes, our son has 6 allergy foods. His shots are for outdoor/indoor allergies which the allergie meds did nothing for him. He refuses the nasal sprays. I prefer the shots to build his immune system up to handle these iteams better.

Has anyone experienced food allergies to be a contributory factor in their child's issues?  Only reason I'm asking is that in addtion to my son's focus problem, he also suffers from chronic canker sores and has red patches on his cheeks.  These can all be indicative of a food allergy and I want to begin having him tested.

Food allergies/sensativities can effect focus cause of how that iteam effects the nervous sytem. It can hype it up. Low seratonin I also learned can effect focus which our son has. We love zicam stuff we keep it on hand. I also love hyland products they are homeopathic also. Animal dander/dustmites there is a shot for. This is one our son gets. The other shot is for his outdoor allergies. Daniel is allergic to peanuts stuff,corn products, oats, gbeans,peas,yeast,cotton seed oil,white fish.I have to sub. out these foods by make ing things from scratch. My son has always been on soya milk due to the fact he is intolerant to dairy products ie cheese milk yoghurt eggs.He was put on soya 4 weeks afte birth as he breaks out in really bad eczema if he eats dairy products and it makes hi asthma far worse.He now can eat a little dairy products but if he ate cheese and say ice cream in the same day we would normally end up covering him in setroid cream for a week or so after. Yes my son has bad food allergies, hes allergic to chocolate, eggs and peanuts. Last week he had a very bad reaction he was in afterschool and had a very bad hives attack that the school had to call 911 he was having problems breathing. His Dr. rote me a prescription to for EPI Pen Jr. so they can have one in school and the other in my purse always with me. It was scary , but thanks the Lord school acted very fast.My DD was tested for food allergies early on, after a bout of anaphylaxix after eating a tomato. The allergist did a RASP test, which is specifically for food allergies, and eliminating the foods has helped her hives but not her focus.Absolutely, we found our son has a sensitivity to dairy products.... it effected both his behavior and it manifested itself physically in a rash on his arms and legs.  My son has a ADHD and severe peanut allergies and we carry an epi-pen jr. where ever we go.  I don't know if this links to his behavior or not.Wow my son is also allergic to eggs, nuts period and shell food.  The pollen outside, dust mites, dogs and cats.  And my mom will not get rid of the dog an cat.  Also, he has asthma and eczema.  He now have a bad happened of spitting from allergies get a lot of drainage in his throat.  I don't what else to give him to help that.

My son has indoor/outdoor allergies, but no food allergies whatsoever.  He is on Singulair--which worked really well in getting rid of his chronic allergic cough.

He had bad eczema as a child.  Allergies, asthma, and eczema go together---the same gene......

Gosh, I feel so bad for all of you dealing with food allergies.

If your son will do it, the Zicam Saline Nasal Gel is GREAT--it isn't like normal saline sprays.  That might help him stop spitting so much---just keeping the sinuses cleaned out.  Also, doing everything in your power to make sure he isn't around cigarette smoke---that is a huge trigger.  Plus, if he can drink lots of water whenever he is feeling a lot of mucus, that helps thin it out.

All this allergies are identify thru the skin test. My DS has severe allergic reaction to egg, peanuts and chocolate, indoor and outdoor, asthma and eczema. For his skin my Dr. recommended me ACID MANTLE it is like Euracin but 100%better you find it on the web, and also he takes singular 5mg and nazonex drops everyday. Yesturday he was starting with allergic rash and I gave him right awar ATARAX for the itching and it when away like in half an hour. But I always take myu Epi Pen Jr. everywhere. School has also one because it already happended that they has to cal 911 because he ate a white vanilla cookie that had egg.

It is really scary because they can go in anaphilaxis.
