Does anyone have a child in Great Lakes Academy in Plano, TX?
We *just* found out that my DS has gotten into a bit of trouble at his newest private school an I'm worried that he could be in danger of being asked to leave. If you have looked at or heard about this school, please let me know what you think, we are potentially considering it if things go badly at his current school. The public schools in our area are not exactly stellar and I would like to try to keep him out of the system if possible.

It comes highly suggested. THE SCHOOL IS FOR GRADES K THRU 12. THEY DRESS IN UNIFORMS. THEY GET SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING. THEY EVEN HAVE AFTER SCHOOL CARE. OUR THERAPEUTIC EYE DR. REFFERS MANY KIDS THERE. THIS DR. IS SHIDLOFSKY. THE SCHOOL KNOWS HIM WELL.Hi,

Have you looked at Shelton in North Dallas area, not too far from Plano. It is a FANTASTIC school for kids with learning differences and especially ADHD! It's a state of the art school through 12th grade.

ALEXANDER FOR HIGH SCHOOL. RICHARDSON,TX. THIS IS THE ONE I WENT TO. VERY SMALL SCHOOL.I talked to Shelton and I was told that my son needed a different school and they mentioned Vanguard school. they said that my son had behavioral issues and not attention issues and that probably Shelton was not the one.
Vanguard does not look too nice. But I am not sure. I looked at it from the outside. Kind of depressing.
I forgot.
My son has ADHD, not just ADD. And they told me they had to evaluate him too. I sent his Neuropsycological evaluations to them and that is what they told me.
They said that he needed to have his medications working in order for him to qualify. It was kind of dissapointing. We are still working in tunning the right dose for him and that is why he has had difficult days at school. They said that he needed smaller teacher/student ratio. More one on one attention.
Anyways, they said that they can test him anyways and see if he qualifies for the program or not.
I do not know if Glen Lakes is the same way. I am wondering. If you find out more information let me know.

YOU HAVE TO MEET WITH THIS SCHOOL 3 TIMES TO SEE IF IT IS A GOOD MATCH. I CALLED AND THIS WAS WHAT WE WERE TOLD. MY ONLY CONCERN IS IF THE KIDS HAS MORE THAN A ADHD DX. i WOULD LOOK AT THE SCHOOL CITE. CORE CLASSES ARE SELF CONTAINED. SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING ALSO INCLUDED. NO SCHOLARSHIPS EITHER.
