I always feel like I'm racing the clock... it just keeps ticking and I'm one step behind. How do I get ahead?

Firstly - you're thinking too much!  At work I try to teach new people to concentrate on the NOW and not what has gone by.  I put bags of chips into boxes and they come off a conveyor at very high speed.  It wastes time, energy and can injure them if they concentrate on the END of the line trying constantly to catch up.  Instead I teach them to focus on the beginning - to get as good as they can at it and eventually they can go back and clean up the end when there is a slowdown.  I know it's a different concept but is similar nonetheless.

Focus on getting good where you are at what's happening now.  By wasting mental energy on what's gone by - you're actually falling further behind.

Limit your tasks - economize your life.  If you're trying to get all the basics done PLUS hobbies PLUS friends PLUS kids and spouse - pare it down to what must be - and remove at least temporarily what you'd like done.

focus on the macro - limit the micro.  Begin to prioritize on getting tasks done that are big and necessary.

Take a time management course - many employment centers give them for free.  It helps all aspects of life.

And for gosh sakes - lighten up on yourself!!!

turn around and walk backwards...
From my absolute favourite group Pink Floyd, says it all!

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I guess Waters has it to ;) Maybe thats why Pink Floyd "died" for me when he left!Anteros38998.3242939815
