welcome Tweetyfan hello i wish u all the luck with ur children with Aaron just remember hes 13 on top of his issues just b there 4 him they may not act like they care but deep down allyour children love u. Just remember the word patience,
Your daughter Mariah which by the way is a pretty name. shes probably just scared of whats goin on at home just reassure her she didnt do anything wrong and maybe u allready do but if not take some 1 on 1 time with her.
Mathew its good that ur gonna have him evaluated. Does the school know of all his diagnosis. my son does so much better 1 on 1 maybe u can ask the principal to try that in school. i dont have a very good oppinion bout schools right now i think they need more understanding n patience for children like ours. goodluck with mathew and his testing i pray he finds the right help im sure hes a loving boy deep down, he probably dont even know hes hurting someone until afterwards.
Ashley sounds like a sweetheart and she is just acting like a typical 3 year old. if the boys say something not nice let her know thats not nice
As 4 u im sure all this is very hard on u especially with hubby being in denial but thats what us moms do is pick up the pieces and direct them toward the right direction and try to help our children the best we know how.
theres great people on here that probably have better advice or ideas than me but you are in our prayers.
hello and WELCOME..... WOW you have your hands fulll.... i'd like to help you out as much as i can.. i also have a child who is bipolar... dillon is only 4 yrs old.. i'm alittle concerned if the doctors feel both of your sons are bipolar then WHY on earth is the doctor treating them with adhd medication? adhd medication can throw a bipolar person into a manic state... your children need a mood stab. my son was put on 2 different adhd meds and he went into a manic state.. feel free to PM me if you have any questions... i truly wish you all the luck in the world... oh yea there is a really good book called "THE BIPOLAR CHILD". that book has been really helpful to me..
Welcome Marlene,
Sounds like you really have your hands full. I am sure you will find help on this board. I know I sure have.
Hello everyone! My name is Marlene. I am a SAHM of 4!
My oldest son is Aaron...he is 13 and he is adopted. He has been diagnosed with ADHD/ODD/CD/RAD/depression and bi-polar. He is on adderall xr right now...but doesn't take them all the time....we have had some issues and he is staying with my mom right now...she seems to be able to get him to do things that we can't do...
I have a daughter, Mariah, who is 7. She is EXTREMELY shy....barely talks to anyone...gets scared going to school, even though she loves school! She is on Prevacid for her stomach, due to being sooo stressed about going to school...and dealing with her brothers!
My other son is Matthew. He is 5. He is diagnosed with ADHD, and severe disruptive behavior disorders...whatever that means! We are in the process of getting him into a residential treatment center to have him evaluated. He is in Kindergarten and has been sent home 6 times in the past 2 weeks...he has kicked a 4 yr. old in the back, bit another child, stabbed himself in the mouth with scissors, bit himself, tried to choke 3 different kids, and today he tried to break a little girls finger! The principal said he cannot come back to school until he is evaluated and something is done. We've been trying to get help for him since he was about 2 weeks old!!!
Maybe we will finally get some help! I really hate the idea of having my baby in a psychiatric hospital for several days, but really don't know what else to try....he is currently on Concerta 36 mg once a day...
He has also been on ritalin...5 mg. 3 times a day, and Daytrana...the patch 10 mg. once a day....nothing seems to help. His doctor thinks he may be bi-polar.
I also have another daughter...Ashley is 3, and is a little sweetheart. but imitates her brothers waaaaay too much!!!
I am just looking for ideas on how to deal with the boys, and what I can do, or should do....as far as dealing with the school on my 5 yr. old..
BTW, I am also diagnosed with ADD, severe depression, anxiety disorder, diabetes, high blood pressure, .....and possible heart problems.
Does it ever get any easier???????? Looking for info, and for some friends...don't really have much support here....hubby doesn't seem to think there is any problems at all with the boys....even though the school does....so no help there....hope to get to know everyone and get some ideas and make some friends....
