Monky
My son is also 9 and he takes 54mg concerta. He's been on concerta for approx. 3years. The concerta doesn't seem to be effective right now, we are seeing some mood swings, aggresion and very argumentive. I have a call into his doctor to see what is next. One thing I've learned with my son and his ADHD and medication is the medications seem to work for a while, them it stops working and we have to try something new (medication). Good luck.
Taking the risk of being accused of promoting a product or "SPAM" again, I also had several years experience of treating my son's ADHD and ODD with the typical drugs used. We started with Straterra and then to Concerta. He continued and got worse with his rages. I thought I was doing something wrong raising him and blamed myself. He gained weight on Zyprexa and other drugs were not sucessful. This last summer, he just turned 8 years old, I slowly took him off Concerta and his rages disappeared. I also stopped the mood stabilizers. He was defiant and argumentive, but the rages stopped. I went to the physician/psychiatrist that is treating him and we started using Provigil for ADHD and he is a new child. We also use Geodon, which still scares me to no end, but not only has he worked himself back into regular school, he is starting to make friends now. He is eager to go to school and homework is not a nightmare anymore. He has bad days where he still doesn't know when to stop a certain behavior or intrudes on others, but this is becoming more managable. The modd swings are gone and he is very pleasant now.
what the heck is geodon?
